NETRON Gear Takes on the Harsh Canadian Winter: A Test of Durability and Reliability

Netron Gear

In the unforgiving cold of a Canadian winter, Netron EN12s, EN4s, and EN6IPs were put to the ultimate test. The challenge? A new, yet-to-be-announced streaming series filmed across various locations in and around Toronto. Filming in both studio and outdoor settings, the production team, led by Matthew Reicker, founder of Mr.Light Solutions, faced some of the most brutal weather conditions the city could throw at them — heavy snow, freezing rain, and biting winds. But throughout it all, Netron gear stood its ground, proving its worth in the harshest of environments.

For an intense 10-week shoot, these rugged devices were deployed without the luxury of protective cases or bags. They were exposed to the elements and still performed flawlessly.

Snow, Mud, and Freezing Rain: Netron Gear Endures

From being buried in snow to getting caked in mud and drenched by freezing rain, the Netron Nodes showed incredible resilience. Whether it was the EN6IP Nodes or the NS8IP Switches, these devices faced the full brunt of nature and came out unscathed.

Six EN6IP Nodes and six NS8IP Switches were deployed outdoors, enduring all kinds of weather for the entire duration of the shoot. Inside, the EN12s and EN4s powered the studio, running 24/7 for a staggering 16 weeks straight. These devices delivered flawless performance, proving their reliability in continuous, demanding conditions.

What Does Real Power Look Like?

Matthew Reicker’s experience with Netron gear has been nothing short of impressive. The NS8IP Switches, powered over Ethernet, were a game-changer in terms of convenience. Having the flexibility to power devices over Ethernet is incredibly handy, especially when you’re moving equipment around quickly on a busy production set.

But it’s not just about ease of use — it’s also about durability. Matthew’s EN4 has over 3,500 hours of operation, and it’s still running smoothly. This level of longevity speaks volumes about the build quality and durability of Netron gear, something that every production team needs when working in such challenging environments.

Netron: More Than Just Gear — It's a Lifeline for Creatives

For Reicker and his team at Mr.Light Solutions, Netron is more than just a piece of equipment. It’s a vital component of their creative process. With no downtime and no failures, these devices have become trusted workhorses that keep the production running seamlessly. Whether it’s dealing with the unpredictable Canadian winter or the constant demands of a high-pressure filming schedule, Netron has proven time and time again that it’s up to the task.

In an industry where reliability can make or break a production, Netron gear has proven itself to be a powerful ally. With its rugged design, ease of use, and unwavering reliability, it’s clear that this is a brand built for the most demanding conditions — and the most creative professionals.
